Effective signposting and referrals
Signposting and referral are seen by many as the cornerstone of an effective advice network where you can move from one agency to another receiving the service that best meets your needs and with which the organisation is best qualified to deal with.
Often we will be able to help a client with some of their problems but not all of them. For example, we may be able to help you to sign up with a GP but not with questions about your immigration case.
In these situations we will signpost or refer you in relation to the aspects of your situation that we cannot address.
Dealing with life's challenges
We all go through difficult times, and it can be a healthy reaction to feel negative emotions when facing challenges.
There's no single "right way" to react, and some of us are more deeply affected by events than others. Everyone is different.
- Our genes, life experiences, upbringing and environment all affect our mental health and influence how we think and respond to situations
- It can also depend on how well other parts of our life are going or how supported we feel.
- Being aware of these factors may make it easier to understand when we, or someone we care about, are struggling.
- We all need good mental health and wellbeing – it's essential to living happy and healthy lives, and can help us sleep better, feel better, do the things we want to do and have more positive relationships.
- It can also help us deal with difficult times in the future.
